How do i make my hair wavy?

theres this girl that goes to my bus, she has the most beautiful hair. it just sits there perfectly and its kind of wavy. she says its natural. i straighten my hair every day and i'm kind of starting to get sick of it..how do i style my hair in waves without making it look to overdone, just natural? do i need certain products? i got this sea salt spray last summer and it tells you to put a little in your hair and scrunch it but it didnt help.

if you use like a 3/4 inch barrel curling iron and for bigger looser waves do big sections and for smaller waves do small sections then when you have done your entire head run your fingers through it to separate the curls and it looks really good

you can try braiding it after you get out of the shower or even if its dry, but if you don't like that, then you can try rollers or fat curling irons, and the only product I would use is Volumeizing Mousse, but damp your hair a little first so it won't make big dry and hard pieces. To me hairspray would be over doing it a little cuz it would make it less smooth but thats my opinion.

Or you can put your hair in a messy bun and later take it out and it should be wavy..it does it to mine, and don't use products...that'll be useless if you do a messy bun, it does it all on its own.

straightening, curling, or any other form of heat can reeally damage your hair over time. i would suggest that after you come out of the shower, comb %26amp; then towel dry your hair. add some gel (just any regular slimy kind works loll) i use the cheap CVS brand. then braid your hair, put it in a messy bun, or put it in a couple small buns on top of your hair and sleep on it. take it out in the morning %26amp; you have waves!

if you're hair doesn't generally hold curls i would try doing this on a weekend first before you try it out for school.

here's what I do. Do this the night before the day you want your hair to be wavy.

1. Make sure your hair is clean, and dry.

2. Add some gel to your hair, and make sure you distribute it evenly throughout. Don't put too much in though, or it will never dry in time.

3. Part your hair down the middle of the back of your head, and make two even pigtails. Then part your hair in the front fo your head (side, or middle part.)

4. Braid your hair, one braid on each side of your head. I usually french braid my hair, so then my hair is wavy at the roots as well. You don't have to be perfect at french brading; no one's going to be seeing you like this anyways!

5. Hair spray each braid, so they keep the wave longer.

6. GO TO BED! :-)

7. Wake up in the morning, and before you do anything else, hairspray your braids one more time.

8. Just before you're about to head out the door, take out the braids. Style your hair then how you like, or just keep it the way it is, it's beautiful!! Keep some hairspray with you throughout the day to keep your wavy hair from going straight!!

i found this really good video on youtube about how to curl your hair with a straight iron and so i tried it and it worked fabulous! it didnt make curls but it made beautiful waves!i know in the video her hair looks really curly when shes done,but maybe it was just the way i did it that made waves.lol. I wanted just the same thing you do,and this method worked fantastic for me!Its really easy,and to make them less "curly" just run your fingers through yor hair to loosen it up.

you can also try typing in "how to get wavy hair" or something like that in youtube and a lot of stuff will come up.i find visual things are nice and helpful to use when it comes to hair.but if that doesnt work out for you try braiding yuor hair when it is damp or wet and let it sit for a few hours,overnight preferably,and then just undo it in the morning !alot of times that method makes my hair kinda "crimped" looking which i really dont like but thats just me.so try that!also they do have a lot of different products for getting waves.
